熟女少妇students and faculty garner regional, national journalism awards

STARKVILLE, Miss.鈥擲tudents, faculty and staff in Mississippi State鈥檚 Department of Communication and at the university鈥檚 student newspaper, The Reflector, won several journalism awards at multiple competitions earlier this semester.
At the 22nd annual O.C. McDavid Journalism Summit, a one-day workshop at the Mississippi Press Association Mid-Winter Conference in Jackson, student staff members of The Reflector won seven first place, six second place and 10 third place awards. The awards are part of the Better Newspaper Contest, the student competition of the MPA Education Foundation.
Participation in the MPA journalism summit gives college and university students the opportunity to interact with Mississippi journalists, educators and artists, and culminates in the presentation of the student awards.

The Reflector won second place in the General Excellence category and third place in the Best Design category at the MPA conference.
At the 57th annual conference of the National Electronic Media Association in Los Angeles, California, the organization鈥檚 National Undergraduate Student Electronic Media Competition awarded The Reflector鈥攗nder Grisham鈥檚 leadership鈥攚ith first place in the Website category. Additionally, LaMastus won first place in the Web News Article category for 鈥淏ob Swanson: Instructor and 鈥楽inging Weatherman鈥.鈥
鈥淚 just feel extremely proud of everything we鈥檝e accomplished,鈥 Rodriguez said. 鈥淚t gives me a sense of pride just knowing what I鈥檝e done for the paper is paying off.鈥

At the Southeast Journalism Conference, hosted by the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, 熟女少妇students won 16 awards in the competition that honors the region鈥檚 best in broadcast, print and online journalism.
The honors received by 熟女少妇students at the SEJC Best of the South Collegiate Journalism Competition represent the university鈥檚 third highest total in the last 20 years and the most since 2005.
鈥淭hese phenomenal students have had a stellar year,鈥 said Terry Likes, 熟女少妇communication professor and department head. 鈥淚t is nice to see their hard work paying off with this kind of recognition. I鈥檇 also like to commend the faculty, and those who oversee campus media鈥擳he Reflector, WMSV, Take 30 News, PRISM鈥攆or their hard work in preparing our students for excellence.鈥
